JAMIES VISIT OCTOBER 8-15 2010

MY SISTER JAMIE CAME OUT FROM CALIFORNIA TO VISIT US FINALLY.
SHE WAS HERE A VERY SHORT WEEK ARRIVING LATE AT NIGHT, ON A FRIDAY, AND DEPARTING SUPER EARLY IN THE MORNING, ALSO THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY.
SHE ARRIVED IN TIME TO SEE THE BEAUTIFUL FALL CHANGES ON THE TREES. SHE ALSO MISSED THE CRAZY RAINS WHICH HAPPENED THE WEEK PRIOR ...{SEE PREVIOUS POSTS ON RAIN}
THE FIRST SATURDAY WE TOOK JAMIE TO THE BURRVILLE CIDER MILL, ALSO SEEN IN PREVIOUS POST. EVEN SHE BROUGHT HOME WITH HER SOME PUMPKIN BUTTER & ENJOYED THE FRESH APPLE DONUTS AND CIDER WHILE ON HER VISIT.

HAD TO GET A SHOT OF THE BOYS NEXT TO THE PUMPKINS...ALMOST TIME TO BUY SOME FOR HALLOWEEN.

HERE, AS A RESULT OF THE CRAZY RAIN PERIOD THE WEEK BEFORE, IS ANOTHER COUPLE SHOTS OF THE FALLS BEHIND THE MILLS. THEY WERE RUNNING SO FULL AND FAST IT MAKES ME WANNA GO GET PICTURES WHEN IT IS ALMOST FREEZING TO SEE & POST AT A LATER DATE.

AS WE WERE LEAVING WE TOOK ANOTHER COUPLE OF SHOTS AND THEN NOTICED THAT THEY KEPT A FEW DUCKS IN A PEN AROUND THE FRONT THAT WE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE.

CAN YOU SAY AFLAC ......
ON SUNDAY WE TOOK HER ON A SMALL TOUR OF FORT DRUM.

ITS ALWAYS PRETTY ON POST, ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF TREES. WE GOT TO SEE WILD TURKEYS & DEER ON THE ROAD AND OFF TO THE SIDE.....BUT NOT ON FILM OF COURSE.

THE PICTURE ABOVE IS OF AN OLDER SOLDIER HELPING A NEW SOLDIER...THIS STATUE STANDS IN FRONT OF THE HEADQUARTERS ON BASE.

TOOK JAMIE TO OUR MAN MADE BEACH ON POST...BUT IT WAS CLOSED...DARN IT.

LOOKS LIKE CAMP CHRYSTAL LAKE TO ME {INSERT FRIDAY THE 13TH MUSIC}

I JUST LIKED THE WAY THE SUN WAS SHOWING THROUGH THE TREE SO I TOOK A PICTURE.

TUESDAY THE 12TH

EVERYONE WHO COMES FOR A VISIT, MUST SEE THE CASTLE {WEATHER PERMITTING}

WE TOOK THE MILLIONAIRE ROW TOUR.

FIRST PICTURE IS OF THE CASTLE FROM A DISTANCE.
THE NEXT FEW ARE OF SOME REALLY NICE SUMMER HOMES FOR PEOPLE WITH WAY TO MUCH MONEY.

ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE WORK DONE ON THEIR HOMES BEFORE THE HARSH WINTERS AND THEN RETURN IN THE FALL ONCE THE CANAL WAY RE -OPENS.

THE STORY ABOUT THE HOUSE BELOW IS THAT APPARENTLY THIS WAS A BIG PARTY HOUSE WHERE THERE WAS ALWAYS DRINKING AND DANCING AND ONE EVENING WITH NOBODY HOME THE HOUSE COLLAPSED AND DECIDED ITS PARTYING DAYS WERE OVER ... AND NOW IT SITS JUST AS IT LAYS.

AND FINALLY APPROACHING THE CASTLE.

I TOOK JAMIE THE LAST DAY THAT THE ISLAND WHERE THE CASTLE IS WOULD BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. I ALSO TOOK HER ON A SCHOOL DAY SO THAT WAY I WOULDN'T HAVE TO DRAG THE WHOLE FAMILY. SADLY THE KIDS HAD THE DAY OFF FROM SCHOOL, BUT MARK STAYED HOME WITH THE 2 OLDER KIDS AND WE HAD MARCEL WITH US.

THE CASTLE HAS 365 WINDOWS- 1 FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR .

ALSO THE CASTLE IS ON "HEART ISLAND" HENCE ALL THE HEARTS INCORPORATED IN THE GARDENS AND IRON WORK AROUND THE CASTLE.

UPON LEAVING AND WALKING DOWN THE STAIRS TO CATCH THE LAST FERRY BACK TO LAND I SAW A COUPLE OF CUTE PILES OF MIXED LEAVES.

ON THE FERRY GOING BACK.

THURSDAY NIGHT
THE NIGHT BEFORE WE TOOK JAMIE BACK TO THE AIRPORT, WE GATHERED LEAVES FOR A PROJECT OF RONANS DUE IN THE MORNING...SO WE GOT IN THE TRUCK AND WENT OUT IN THE RAIN AND FOUND THESE.

ALL THE PRETTY FALL COLORS GREEN, ORANGE, YELLOW, RED, & BROWN.

WE LET THEM DRY AND TOOK JAMIE OUT TO DINNER AT THE TEXAS ROADHOUSE.
SOME PLAYFUL PICTURES BEFORE WE LEFT.

MARCEL WITH HIS "AUNTIE FRIEND"
AND THEN HE WAS TAKING OUR PICTURES.

AFTER THE CRAZY DINNER WE CAME HOME TO FINISH THE ART PROJECT FOR RONAN & AUNTIE HELPED MARCEL MAKE A LEAFY PROJECT OF HIS OWN.

SIDE BY SIDE PROJECTS.
AND THEN MESSING AROUND WITH AUNTIE AGAIN.

WE TOOK JAMIE BACK TO THE AIRPORT THE NEXT MORNING AND MADE IT BACK FOR THE KIDS TO GO TO SCHOOL .
